St.John is located in the Virgin Islands, one of the most charming, tropical places you’ll visit. Lauren & Cam flew in from Canada for their elopement on St.John. Before Lauren’s arrival she reached out to me to inquire about the perfect location for their elopement, I mentioned a couple different locations. Choosing the place that fits her and her vision is so important, so we chatted over a phone call about the locations on St.John that would fit her dream the best. After suggesting Trunk Bay beach, Cinnamon Bay, Peace Hill, and Hawksnest Bay, she decided on Hawksnest Bay. Mike from www.blueskyceremony.com was her officiant and Allison from www.instagram.com/tropicmedia was her videographer and her gorgeous flowers were from www.eastendflowershop.com
The Virgin Islands consist of four islands, St.Thomas, St.John, St.Croix and Water Island and a few uninhabited islands. Traveling to these locations is fairly easy; take a 20 minute ferry ride to St.John, or a 5 minute ferry ride to Water Island or take a 20 minute flight to St.Croix, this is one of the things that makes the Virgin Islands so special. Living on St.Thomas, I took the ferry over to St.John to capture Lauren and Cam’s sweet elopement on Hawksnest Bay.
Lauren and Cam arrived together, they weren’t doing the tradition of not seeing each other before the ceremony. This was their elopement, it was simple and very sweet on a pristine white sand beach located on the island of St.John. While photographing Lauren before their ceremony began, her veil flew right off from the cool Caribbean breeze blowing and landed on the edge of the water. She shook it off and hung it up to dry, she said no worries it’ll dry, let’s get married! As her and Cam stud in the water ankle deep, and exchanged their vows, Mike from www.blueskyceremony.com pronounced them husband and wife. This was I think one of the most memorable, and exciting moments of their lives. They were so worried this wasn’t going to happen the way they planned due to Covid19, but it worked out better than they ever could have dreamed of. They stood on an almost deserted beach in St. John, the Jem of the Virgin Islands and was pronounced husband and wife.
I feel so honored to have been able to photograph their elopement, but not only that also creating art from the real emotions they couldn’t contain.
